Easy Homemade Salsa

I got asked the other day how I decide what recipes to create and shoot for the blog, and honestly, I think it’s a combination of what’s in season, what I’m craving, and personal requests. This recipe was definitely a personal craving. I thought I would share it in case you’re having a salsa craving too, enjoy!

Salsa is one of my favorite things to make during the summer months. I have to admit though, this recipe is not the same if you buy the tomatoes from a grocery store. Use tomatoes from your garden or from a local Farmer’s Market. I promise it will make a huge difference!

My favorite salt. I never thought that I would have a favorite salt. Who even am I? haha.

I used mini peppers for this salsa but feel free to use large bell peppers! I like to add at least one of each color so that the salsa is extra colorful.

Getting ready to wash all of the produce! I’m still trying to figure out the best way to wash my produce. I have thought about buying a fruit and veggie wash, but I haven’t yet. Let me know if you have one that you use and like.

Here is the finished salsa! I ended up pairing it with these chips and it was so good!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 garden tomatoes
  • 4 small bell peppers or 2 large peppers
  • 1/2 jalapeno
  • 1/4-1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1/2 white or purple onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2-2 teaspoons salt
  • Juice of half a lime

DIRECTIONS:

Start by putting the garlic in the food processor. Pulse a few times to chop the garlic into small pieces. Next, add in the tomatoes, pulse a few more times. Then, add the peppers, jalapeno (make sure to remove the seeds), cilantro, onion, salt, and lime. Pulse a few more times. Finish by tasting and add any additional salt, cilantro, or lime if needed.

That’s it for today! I hope you guys have a great weekend! You’ll have to tag me on Instagram if you end up giving this recipe a try. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
