My 16 Current Goals

I’m a goal-oriented person. I always have been and I probably always will be. As a little girl, I remember my mom creating a chart that enabled me to win a prize after I had read so many books. She was trying to teach me how to read and she knew that if I had a goal in front of me, I would get after it. So, as soon as she had that chart in place I grabbed stacks upon stacks of books and read my little heart out. Let’s just say, I learned how to read pretty quick once I had a goal in front of me.

To this day, I still love writing down goals and hitting them! There is almost nothing better. Most of my goals now are ongoing goals. I do have some time-sensitive ones but for the most part, I have learned that I do best at reaching them when I take it little by little and don’t stress over having to accomplish them in a short amount of time. Plus, when I do it little by little, I have found that it becomes a discipline in my life, which I much prefer, over a one-time checkmark.

Today I thought it would be fun to share with you a few of my goals/disciplines that I’m working towards in my life. Not all at once of course but little by little. 😉

1. Learn to steward my money and become debt-free!

This has been a huge goal for me and I’m on my way there! I want to carry this throughout my life so I can give freely to others and not stress over money.

2. Learn to step away from phone more and cultivate relationships face to face

I think powerful/meaningful relationships can happen when we set aside our phones and set our focus on trying to get to know one another.

3. Make working out/eating healthy not a punishment but rather a reward

I believe that our bodies were created to be strong and healthy.  So what I put in my body daily does matter and how I treat my body matters as well.  I try and take time out each day to care for my body, that way, I can show up well for others. Plus I get sick less often, which is a huge win in my book!

4. Only use Social Media to uplift, encourage, love, etc.

Basically, I want to be intentional every time I get on social media.  Am I there to just sit and scroll through things I will forget about in five minutes? Or am I there to uplift and empower those around me.  I think social media can be used as a powerful outlet but so many times it can be become destructive, if not used correctly.

5. No longer focus on perfection but rather excellence+progression

For me, this one is going to be hard because I can be such a perfectionist in some areas of my life.  I have become better at realizing that I can still do something and do it with excellence and not get caught up in having it done perfectly. I still want to do things well when I do them, especially if I’m doing something for someone else.

6. Spend time praying/reading the bible every day

Essentially I believe this is the most important one because it will affect all areas of my life. I can learn how to live a life full of purpose and freedom when I choose to spend time with Him every day.

7. Go Back to School

I’m one of those “weird” people that enjoys sitting in a classroom. I’m probably going to be 95 and still taking classes because I love it that much! haha. I plan to continue learning and growing always but I’m really wanting to go back and get a second degree, probably in business. Or at least take a few business classes. 😉

8. Help Other Women Reach Their Goals

I enjoy reaching goals but you know what I enjoy more? Helping other women reach their goals! I love when other women open up and share their goals and dreams because then I can cheer them on and watch them succeed!

9. Learn to serve and give more

I believe serving is HUGE!!!   It teaches humility, leadership, patience and unconditional love.  It’s important for me to learn how to set aside my agenda and serve whoever is in front of me.  Giving is also very important and not just giving to expect something in return but giving to simply bless someone.

10. Learn to say No so I can say Yes to the things that are truly going to matter in the end

I have always been a people pleaser and this one used to be so hard for me! I would say yes to everything and then get so overwhelmed that I didn’t have the energy/time to do the things I knew I was really supposed to be focusing on.  Understanding that I can only do so much in each season has really helped me slow down and focus on what’s right in front of me.

11. Practice gratitude daily

Even if I have to physically write out the things I am thankful for each morning I know it puts things back into perspective. I start to focus on what I do have rather than focusing on what I don’t have.

12. Invest in the relationship with my husband

I’m big on investing in my relationship with my husband, so a weekly date night is a small start to that. I also really enjoy planning a few small trips here and there so we can get away and enjoy each other’s company.

13. Buy Less, Travel More

I know that I’ve probably mentioned this before but I love to travel! It could be in the same state, a different state or to a different country. Just throw me in a car or on a plane and I’m content. Traveling is so important to me because I learn so much when I travel. My hope is that I don’t fill my house with stuff I will forget about, but rather experiences I will always remember.

14. Choosing one thing at a time to focus on in ministry

Not trying to do multiple things because it gets chaotic and I’m not able to give my best when I’m stretched thin. This goes back to saying no, so I can say yes wholeheartedly.

15. Meal prep more!

This is beneficial because during the week less cooking will happen and fewer dishes will be created, which in turn will equal less cleaning.  It really is a beautiful equation!

16. Get outside more

Not only is being outside refreshing and fun but I truly do believe it helps with my mental and physical health.  I want to be more mindful about spending more time outside walking, biking, hiking, swimming, etc. I never end up regretting it when I do!

Okay, that is it for today. I could go on and on with all of the goals I have but these are the ones that I’m starting with. I will probably do more posts like this because I really like writing about goals and motivation! 😉

If you have some goals you’re working towards, let me know in the comments below. I would love to cheer you on!

Thanks for reading! 🙂
